Otolaryngology, most commonly known as ENT, is a medical specialty which is focused on the ears, nose, and throat.
An otolaryngologist or an ENT surgeon is a doctor who specializes in treating conditions that affect the ears, nose, and throat, as well as head and neck surgery. It includes among others, chronic or fungal sinusitis, hearing loss, oropharyngeal cancer, and obstructive sleep apnea.
When to visit an ENT specialist?
You may want to see an ENT if you have any or some of the following problems:
- Long-term (chronic) throat, ear, or sinus issues
- Persistent hearing loss for more than a week or two
- A lump in your neck
- Tonsillitis (Severe sore throat for over a week)

- Goiter (Enlarged thyroid glands)
- Vocal cord disorders caused by overuse of vocal cord
- Throat tumors
